i wish i was old
and it was all done, and i knew that we made it
you,me, us, them
i just wanna know, that we'll all make it through.
him from the fourth grade
and her from the eighth
and those from the uni
and those after that
the first boy that i kissed
and the last.
i just wanna know, that we'll all get to here
and that here is somewhere, we'll all wanna to be.
i wanna be old, looking back
and i wanna like what i see

I Thought I was a Bird
I thought I was a bird in a cage
I thought I was a bird in a cage
I thought I was a bird in a cage
................And then the cage was open
Open, and I couldn't fly.
The wings-misshapen
The feathers-frail--
Can't even lift them...
Can't even bend them.
Oh, to fall and die
And die a proper, tragic death.
Oh, to break my wings--
To break these useless wings
To die and have them think:
I broke my wings.
Bird in a cage
Bird in a cage
I wish I were a bird in a cage
I wish I needed that cage--
Was still in that cage.
A bird in a cage,
Is still a bird, still a bird, still a bird...
I thought I was a bird in a cage
I thought I was a bird in a cage
................And then the cage was open
Open, and I couldn't fly.
The wings-misshapen
The feathers-frail--
Can't even lift them...
Can't even bend them.
Oh, to fall and die
And die a proper, tragic death.
Oh, to break my wings--
To break these useless wings
To die and have them think:
I broke my wings.
Bird in a cage
Bird in a cage
I wish I were a bird in a cage
I wish I needed that cage--
Was still in that cage.
A bird in a cage,
Is still a bird, still a bird, still a bird...
